Ministries History
Past Organizations at Ridgewood Baptist ChurchSome of the organizations on record that continued for some time but are no longer in existence are: The Junior World Wide Guild, Win-One Band, Male Chorus, The Ladies Circle, Jet Cadets, Jr. Jets, Trailblazers. The Junior World Wide Guild was a missionary interested group of schoolgirls organized in September 1931, and was active until sometime in the 1950's. Win-One Band was organized in the spring of 1931 by a number of young people with the help of their pastor Rev. L. M. Clark, who acted as their teacher in a class where personal soul winning was studied. In addition to Bible study and scripture memorization, they did practical work assignments such as holding gospel meetings at the county jail, sanatorium, etc. At each of these meetings the members gave testimonies, and folks were dealt with personally. This group was in existence for about 7 years and was used in a mighty way for the Lord's glory. Throughout the years, from time to time, there have been a number of different male choruses at Ridgewood Church, but most of us can especially remember the one consisting of 18 men led by Lloyd Crist that was organized in January 1951. It continued for about two years in which they sang for the glory of the Lord. The Ladies Circle was a ladies missionary group that faithfully served the Lord through the years by supporting missionaries with prayer, financial aid, hand-sewn articles, and in later years. they spent many hours collecting articles of clothing, repairing, etc. getting it ready for missionaries in the states to give out to needy people as they dealt with their souls. The activities of the women of our church date back to the very beginning of our church's life. They were known then as the Ladies Aid Society. The Ladies Circle was active until just a few years ago when it disbanded because the ladies were older and could not get out as well and some went to be with the Lord. In the late 50's there was Training Union for all ages on Sunday evenings, and through the years since there has been Teachers Training and other adult studies while there was something for the children. In addition to the Jr. High and Sr. High youth group, there was, from time to time, something for other ages such as Jet Cadets, Jr. Jets and Trailblazers. As far back as 1926, the young people of the church B.Y.P.U. bought a used mimeograph and published a weekly, known as the "Ridgewood Oskie." This later developed into a church bulletin and others took over the tedious but very important task of weekly printing the church news and programs. In later years, Mr. Carroll Beaudry faithfully printed the church bulletin until Eloise Storch and then Mary Martin (Sunday school workers) took over the task. When the church hired a church secretary it then became part of her work. More HistoriesBelow is a list of past ministries of our church.
